SHOAC 2026/27 Autumn-Winter Season: 40 Productions, 68 Performances, Eight of Them Mozart

SHOAC published its autumn-winter season on July 28: 40 productions, 68 performances. 2026 is Mozart's 270th anniversary; eight shows make a Mozart Plan. Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony, Netrebko, Gheorghiu and Argerich are on the list.

Shanghai Oriental Art Center published its 2026/27 autumn-winter season on July 28. 40 productions, 68 performances. 2026 is Mozart's 270th anniversary. Eight shows make a Mozart Plan across orchestra, chamber, voice and theatre. The house splits the season into five strands of its own naming.

Two nights in the big hall first

On September 22 and 23 Antonio Pappano brings the London Symphony Orchestra back after two years, with pianist Bruce Liu. The September 23 programme has Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante K. 364 and Bruckner's Ninth.

On October 19 and 20 Tugan Sokhiev brings the Vienna Philharmonic for its eighth visit to SHOAC. He conducts the 2027 Vienna New Year's Concert. Lang Lang is the soloist. October 20 is Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and Tchaikovsky's Fourth.

The same season also has Paavo Järvi with the Estonian Festival Orchestra, Alexandre Kantorow in Rachmaninoff's Second Concerto, and Vasily Petrenko with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on its 80th-anniversary tour.

On August 29 Xu Zhong opens with the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, directing Mozart's Piano Concertos No. 9 "Jenamy" K. 271 and No. 21 K. 467 from the keyboard, with the "Paris" and "Prague" symphonies.

Voices, pianists, and the rest of the Mozart Plan

Anna Netrebko on October 13 to 15, Angela Gheorghiu on November 4. Martha Argerich, Maxim Vengerov and Steven Isserlis play a chamber festival. Recitals by Víkingur Ólafsson, Khatia Buniatishvili and Lilya Zilberstein.

Violinist Ning Feng and the Kammerakademie Potsdam play the complete Mozart violin concertos on October 10 and 11. Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley and principal viola Mei Diyang join the Berliner Barock Solisten on November 12 for an all-Mozart evening. The Vienna Boys' Choir sings Mozart on October 6.

Also on the season: Diana Krall and sitarist Anoushka Shankar.

Most dated performances are already on sale through SHOAC. The Argerich festival, Ólafsson, Buniatishvili and a few others still wait on an official on-sale date.
