Tugan Sokhiev & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra 2026 Shanghai Concert

The Vienna Philharmonic plays two nights at SHOAC and the programmes are entirely different, so it is worth checking which one you are buying. On 19 October Lang Lang is the soloist in Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto, the concerto that opens with the piano alone before the orchestra has played a note, which almost nothing before it had done; after the interval comes Brahms's Second Symphony, the quickest written and sunniest of his four. On 20 October there is no soloist: Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor followed by Tchaikovsky's Fourth in F minor. Mozart wrote only two symphonies in a minor key, both of them in G minor, and the Fortieth is the later. Tugan Sokhiev conducts both nights. He was music director of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse from 2008 to 2022 and music director and chief conductor of the Bolshoi from 2014 to 2022, and conducted the Vienna Philharmonic's summer concert at Schönbrunn in June 2025. Both performances are part of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

Nine price bands at ¥380 / 580 / 880 / 1280 / 1680 / 1980 / 2280 / 2580 / 2880, on sale since 14:00 on 5 June 2026. The two nights play different programmes and are ticketed separately, six tickets per person per night. The ¥380 and ¥580 bands are real-name only: the buyer must enter each attendee's name and ID number, both are printed on the ticket, the ticket cannot be transferred, and name, ticket and ID must match at the door. Those two bands carry no member discount. Children under 1.2 m are not admitted; over 1.2 m they need a ticket of their own.
