Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Biography

Founded in 1842 and based at the Musikverein, the Vienna Philharmonic is self-governing and draws its members from the Vienna State Opera orchestra. It has no chief conductor, and performs the annual Vienna New Year's Concert.
