Anna Netrebko in Concert

Twenty-one numbers, more than half of them Verdi: Il trovatore, Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Un ballo in maschera, Nabucco and Otello. The rest is Donizetti's Anna Bolena and Lucia di Lammermoor, Puccini's Tosca, and Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades and Eugene Onegin. The Tchaikovsky group deserves separate mention. Netrebko is a native Russian speaker and Tatyana was among the roles that established her; four numbers from Onegin are programmed here, including the final-act confrontation. Purely orchestral items — the Nabucco overture, the ballet music from Otello — are folded into the running order. That is standard practice in an aria concert: it gives the singer somewhere to breathe. Oriental Concert Hall, about 90 minutes.
