A concert calendar is only worth planning around if it matches the official record. On August 4 we completed a season-wide verification pass: 114 major concerts from mid-August 2026 through November 2027, each checked against the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra website, the official APIs of the Oriental Art Center, Shanghai Concert Hall and Shanghai Grand Theatre, performance permits from the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, and the Shanghai Grand Opera House's official mini-program and opening-season publications. The result: 102 concerts officially confirmed, 59 of them re-checked live that day. Twelve listings could not be confirmed through official channels and remain on our internal watch-list — they will not appear on this site until they are.
Five productions confirmed sold out
The following are confirmed sold out as of August 4 (returned tickets may occasionally reappear on official channels; we update on each sweep):
· SSO season opening I (Sep 11, Long Yu and Leonidas Kavakos, Shostakovich 120th anniversary)
· Zhang Guoyong, Kavakos and the SSO play Mendelssohn (Sep 18)
· Teatro La Fenice, Tosca (Oct 22 and 24, both sold out)
· Mariinsky Opera, Aida (Oct 30 - Nov 1, all three sold out)
· Thielemann and the Staatsoper Berlin, Der Rosenkavalier (Nov 8, 10 and 12, all three sold out)
Within Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra's Shostakovich symphony cycle, the Oct 24 evening concert (Symphony No. 7) is sold out per the official mini-program; the remaining dates are still on sale.
Ticket status added for 24 events
Three permit-confirmed recitals are on sale now: the Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers' Ode to Youth XII (Aug 29), Christian Blackshaw's piano recital (Aug 30) and Elisabeth Leonskaja's piano recital (Oct 11).
Twenty-one announced concerts are now marked "not yet on sale", including the Shanghai Grand Opera House opening concert, Yuja Wang with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Buchbinder's complete Beethoven piano concertos, Argerich and Friends, Víkingur Ólafsson's recital and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. We update the moment official on-sale dates are published.
What we don't publish
Twelve listings that could not be officially confirmed — mostly Shanghai Philharmonic season dates, whose website offers no public listings — stay on our internal watch-list and are re-checked on every sweep. All 86 confirmed event pages now carry a fresh "last verified" timestamp: the date you see on each event page is the date we last checked it against official channels.
