About the work

Written in Salzburg in 1772, when Mozart was sixteen, and grouped with K. 136 and K. 137 as the "Salzburg Symphonies". All three are for strings alone and none has a minuet, which is why it is still argued whether they were intended for quartet or for string orchestra. The three movements are short and bright; the central Andante is the most lyrical music here.
