Future Masters: The Shape of My Heart — Harp and Saxophone Duo
About the performance
Resonate Duo is China's first professional saxophone-and-harp partnership: Chen Yuying, principal harp of the Shanghai Philharmonic, with the saxophonist Xu Guangli. Both instruments are French inventions and the programme starts there — Debussy's Rapsodie and Bruyères, Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Clos Guinguet by Jean-Denis Michat. The second half turns to the screen: Morricone's Gabriel's Oboe and Cinema Paradiso, "She" from Notting Hill, "Shape of My Heart" from Léon, then Zhu Yiqing's Chanson and Chen Gang's arrangement of Sunshine on Tashkurgan. Most of the programme is arranged for the two instruments.
