Dutoit, Leonskaja and SSO Perform Mozart and Respighi's Roman Trilogy
About the performance
All three of the Roman poems in one evening, which is reason enough on its own. Respighi wrote them between 1916 and 1928 — Fountains of Rome, Pines of Rome, Roman Festivals — as independent works, and concerts normally take one or two. Playing all three means a very large orchestra, and the finale of the Pines wants extra brass placed around the hall. Complete performances are not common. Charles Dutoit has a long history with this repertoire. The French and Italian colour recordings from his twenty-five years in Montreal are still the reference for many listeners. He was born in Lausanne on 7 October 1936, and this concert falls on 7 October: he turns ninety the day he conducts it. The first half is Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22, K. 482, with Elisabeth Leonskaja. She was Richter's regular duo partner and is still performing in her eighties. About 115 minutes.

Buying and admission
- Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. If a performance is cancelled or postponed for reasons outside the presenter's control, you get the face value back and nothing else.
- Children 1.2 m and taller need a full-price ticket; under 1.2 m are not admitted, except to concerts programmed for children.
- Doors open 40 minutes before curtain and seats are numbered. Latecomers are seated by the staff at a suitable break, not on arrival.
- Backpacks, large bags and camera bags must be checked. Phones off or silent once inside, and no photography or recording without permission.
- Subscription packages are sold at the box office only: at least five concerts at a time, a bigger discount the more you take, up to about 30% off. Six tickets per concert per price band per person, no refunds, and seats are allocated in the order the orders came in.
- Fifty tickets or more for one concert counts as a group booking, at a separately negotiated rate: 021-24266124.
