About the work

The second installment of Alisa Weilerstein's FRAGMENTS project again dismantles a Bach solo cello suite and reassembles its movements among new commissions, performed straight through under theatrical lighting, with the running order withheld from the audience. Titled "Tumult," the program draws in music by Alan Fletcher, Ana Sokolovic, Caroline Shaw, Daniel Kidane and Gity Razaz, set against Bach — a rougher, stormier register than the first evening.
