SHOAC | Lang Lang plays only one of the Vienna Philharmonic two nights

The Vienna Philharmonic plays the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on 19 and 20 October, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev. Both nights are sold as one project, but the programmes are entirely different, and SHOAC's own booking page warns buyers to check which one they are buying.

Lang Lang is on the 19th, not the 20th

The 19th opens with Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58, with Lang Lang; after the interval, Brahms's Second Symphony in D major, Op. 73.

The 20th has no soloist: Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550, followed by Tchaikovsky's Fourth in F minor, Op. 36.

Beethoven's Fourth begins with the piano alone, before the orchestra has played a note. Almost no concerto before it had started that way, and it is the only work across the two nights with a soloist at all. If you want to hear Lang Lang, the 19th is the only date.

Tickets

Nine price bands at ¥380 / 580 / 880 / 1280 / 1680 / 1980 / 2280 / 2580 / 2880, on sale since 5 June 2026, six tickets per person per night.

The ¥380 and ¥580 bands are real-name only: you enter each attendee's name and ID number at checkout, both are printed on the ticket, the ticket cannot be transferred, and name, ticket and ID must match at the door. Those two bands carry no member discount. Children under 1.2 m are not admitted; over 1.2 m they need a ticket.

Both performances are part of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival.
