The Oriental Concert Hall at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center is selling two concerts this autumn under the Butterfly Lovers name. Both carry the words "Oriental Classics." The presenter, the orchestra and the programme are different in each.

27 September, 19:30 — The Butterfly Lovers: Oriental Classic Symphony Concert, played by the Shanghai Kalliope Symphony Orchestra with the violinist Qu Youyang. Twelve items. Before the interval: Jasmine Flower, Peach Blossom Vow, a Legend of the Condor Heroes suite, A Bite of China, Big Fish & Begonia, Chi Ling, The Wandering Earth and a Drawing Sword suite. After it: Journey to the West, Dream of the Red Chamber, Water Margin, and the complete Butterfly Lovers violin concerto to close. Everything except the concerto is an orchestral arrangement of film, animation, game or pop material — the presenter's own word is "re-creation" — and it names neither the original composers nor the arrangers, nor a conductor. Tickets ¥100 to ¥480.

21 November, 19:30 — Oriental Classics: Butterfly Lovers and Yellow River, Fan Tao conducting the Accent Symphony Orchestra. Five works. Before the interval: Lv Qiming's Ode to the Red Flag, Jiang Wantong's Capriccio on "Hong Yan", and the Butterfly Lovers violin concerto of He Zhanhao and Chen Gang, with Zhou Ming'en as soloist. After it: the Yao Dance of Liu Tieshan and Mao Yuan, then all four movements of the Yellow River piano concerto, with Yuan Jie as soloist. The poster also bills the cellist Huang Jing without saying what she plays. Tickets ¥100 to ¥680, on sale since 28 August.

Neither programme appears in the text of its ticketing page. Both are printed on poster images embedded in the page, and both were transcribed item by item. Both say the final running order is settled on the night.
