Shanghai Grand Opera House adds obstructed-view seats in four waves from 10:00 on 11 September, from 180 yuan; Geniushene and Diana Krall opened today
At 16:00 on 10 September the Shanghai Grand Opera House announced that on the 11th it will release partially obstructed seats at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 and 11:30 — one clock each for Tosca, Aida, Der Rosenkavalier and the Shostakovich symphonies cycle — sold only through its WeChat mini-program, limit six per order, with the 80-yuan community tickets excluded. The same day, Anna Geniushene's recital at the Shanghai Grand Theatre went on sale at 16:00 with its programme published for the first time, and Diana Krall at the Oriental Art Center opened at 14:00.

At 16:00 on 10 September the Shanghai Grand Opera House announced on its WeChat account that on 11 September it will release "partially obstructed" seats for four productions from its opening season, all of which have already had a first release. Each production has its own sale time, half an hour apart.
10:00 is Teatro La Fenice's Tosca, the 22 October 19:30 and 24 October 14:00 sittings, in Harmony Hall, one band at 280 yuan on the fourth level. 10:30 is Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre's Aida, on 30 and 31 October at 19:00 and 1 November at 14:00, again Harmony Hall fourth level at 280 yuan. 11:00 is Thielemann and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden's Der Rosenkavalier, on 8 November at 14:30 and 10 and 12 November at 18:30, Harmony Hall, at 680 and 480 yuan on the second level, 380 and 280 on the third, 280 and 180 on the fourth. 11:30 is Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra's complete Shostakovich symphonies, 23–28 October at 19:30 plus 24 and 25 October at 14:00, in the Soar Theatre, at 580 and 380 yuan on the second level, 380 and 180 on the third, 180 on the fourth.
The house says the seats were released after several rounds of in-house testing on site and a further assessment with each company's technical team. Stage designs differ from production to production and the companies hold seats back for technical use, so the number available differs by sitting and the house has not published a figure. Its box office, 400-026-1017 (9:00–20:00), answers questions about specific seats.
Two things to note. First the channel: this release is sold only through the "上海大歌剧院" WeChat mini-program, limit six tickets per order, until they are gone. Second, it does not include the 80-yuan community tickets. The posters for the three Harmony Hall operas print nine bands — 1280, 1080, 880, 680, 480, 380, 280, 180 and 80 yuan — and the 80-yuan band has still not been released. The Shostakovich cycle in the Soar Theatre has six bands, 1280 down to 180, and never had an 80.
Two other sales opened the same day. Anna Geniushene's recital in the Shanghai Grand Theatre's One-Man-Show Classical series went on sale at 16:00 today: 6 December at 14:30 in the Drama Theatre, at 100, 180, 280 and 380 yuan, limit six per order. The programme was published at the same time — Brahms's Four Ballades, Op. 10, and the Scherzo from Bartók's Four Piano Pieces before the interval; after it, three transcriptions: Liszt on the Miserere from Verdi's Il trovatore and on the sacred dance and final duet from Aida, and Agosti on three movements of Stravinsky's Firebird. About 95 minutes including the interval. Geniushene was born in Moscow in 1991 and took the silver medal at the 2022 Van Cliburn competition.
Diana Krall's Shanghai concert at the Oriental Art Center opened at 14:00 today, for 18 November at 19:30, in six bands from 380 to 1580 yuan, real-name purchase, limit six per sitting.
One concert is new to the calendar: the Landaeta Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela on 2 November at 19:30 in the Shanghai Symphony Hall, conducted by Christian Vásquez, playing Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini, Castro D'Addona's De mi tierra and Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony. The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra has it in the season; tickets are not on sale yet.
