Recital
Anna Geniushene Piano Recital

About the performance
One of eight recitals in the Shanghai Grand Theatre's One-Man-Show Classical series. Geniushene was born in Moscow in 1991 and took the silver medal at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The first half is written for the piano: Brahms's Four Ballades, Op. 10, and the Scherzo from Bartók's Four Piano Pieces, Sz. 22. The second half is entirely transcription — Liszt moving the Miserere from Verdi's Il trovatore and the sacred dance and final duet from Aida onto the keyboard, and Agosti reducing three orchestral movements of Stravinsky's Firebird to a solo.
