Founded in 1958 by Neville Marriner at the church on Trafalgar Square it takes its name from. It built its reputation playing without a conductor or led from the first desk, and is among the most recorded chamber orchestras in the world, with a catalogue running from the baroque to the twentieth century. Joshua Bell has been music director since 2011.
