Biography
American violinist and conductor, born in Indiana in 1967; he appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra at fourteen and won the Avery Fisher Prize in 2007. Since 2011 he has been music director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, only the second in its history after Neville Marriner, usually directing from the violin. He plays the 1713 Huberman Stradivarius, and was the solo violinist on the score for The Red Violin, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Score.
