Chamber
Time's Creases: Yu Yuan and Kuang Junhong, Flute and Guitar

About the performance
A flute-and-guitar duo: six works, split by an interval. The first half is Austro-German — two of Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words, Schumann's Drei Romanzen Op. 94, Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata — all written for other instruments and arranged, which is how programmes like this are usually built. The second half was written for this pairing: Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Sonatina, Wen Ziyang's Hongqiao Airport 2013, and the Café 1930 and Nightclub 1960 movements of Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango. Yu Yuan is principal flute of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin; Kuang Junhong took the top prize in the guitar division of the ARD competition in Munich.
