Shanghai Concert Hall New Year's Concert 2027: Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra
About the performance

The Shanghai Concert Hall stages its own New Year's concert for 2027, played by the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra under Austrian conductor Johannes Wildner. Two performances take place in the main hall on 31 December, at 19:00 and 22:30, and the later one runs past midnight. Players from the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra founded the orchestra in 1966 to perform the music of the Strauss family and Viennese light music.

2027 is the 200th anniversary of Josef Strauss's birth. Five of the thirteen pieces are his, including the Delirien waltz and the polka Feuerfest!. The rest come from Johann Strauss II (Tales from the Vienna Woods, the Fledermaus Quadrille, Vergnügungszug and two operetta overtures), Eduard Strauss (Ohne Bremse) and the Pizzicato Polka, which the two brothers wrote together. The Gypsy Baron overture opens the concert. The Blue Danube ends it. There is an interval. The programme may change.
