Choral
Jin Chengzhi & Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers: Luocha Chronicles, The Sea
About the performance
Jin Chengzhi and the Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers perform the choral theatre work Luocha Chronicles: The Sea at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, one concert on 23 January and one on 24 January 2027, conducted by Jin Chengzhi. This is the second part of the Luocha Chronicles series, in 5 movements and 19 numbers. It tells what happens after Gu Yuanshan and his friend Zhuge Hongtu set out to sea to look for treasure and stray into the "Luocha Kingdom". The choir shares the stage with a Chinese and Western ensemble of nearly 40 players, singing in Mandarin, Wenzhou dialect and an invented "Luocha language".
