About the performance
Eighteen Schubert songs, accompanied throughout on guitar rather than piano. That is closer to Schubert's own market than it sounds: guitar-accompanied editions of his songs were printed in Vienna in his lifetime, when far more households could afford a guitar than a piano. The programme opens with Lied eines Schiffers an die Dioskuren and takes in Ständchen, Auf dem Wasser zu singen, Der Wanderer and Der Zwerg, with Die Post lifted out of Winterreise. Four price bands from 80 to 380 yuan.
