About the performance
Violin and guitar as a duo is a combination Paganini himself left behind: he played both and wrote a good deal for the pair. Eight works, three of them his — the E minor Sonata Op. 3 No. 6, six of the 24 Caprices, and La Campanella. Tartini's Devil's Trill Sonata and Massenet's Méditation sit in the middle, and the guitar has two solos, Tárrega's Capricho árabe and Roland Dyens's Tango en Skaï. It closes with Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango, written for flute and guitar, with violin the usual substitute. Giuseppe Gibboni won the 56th Paganini Competition in Genoa in 2021, the first Italian to take it in twenty-four years. Carlotta Dalia was the first woman to win a prize at the Paganini guitar competition. Both are Italian. SHOAC Concert Hall, about 90 minutes, 80 to 480 yuan.
