Benjamin Grosvenor Piano Recital

Benjamin Grosvenor plays one recital at the Shanghai Concert Hall main auditorium on 3 October 2026 at 19:30. The first half is Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 13 in B-flat, K. 333, and Beethoven's Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 2, the Moonlight. The second half is Scriabin's Sonata No. 2 in G-sharp minor, Op. 19, Liszt's Sonetto 104 del Petrarca, S. 161 No. 5, and Chopin's Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 35. The three after the interval sit close together. Scriabin's Op. 19 has only two movements and the composer said it was about the sea. The Liszt began as a song and was rewritten for solo piano for the second year of the Années de pèlerinage. The third movement of the Chopin is the funeral march; the finale runs seventy-five bars without a single chord. The presenter says this is Grosvenor's only mainland Chinese date this year. His last Shanghai recital was in 2024.
