Richard Strauss

Rosenkavalier Suite

About the work

The opera was premiered in Dresden in 1911. This orchestral suite was published in 1945 and its arranger has never been established with certainty. It threads the best-known passages in stage order: the headlong horn writing of the prelude, the high strings and celesta of the Presentation of the Silver Rose, Baron Ochs's waltzes, and the Act III trio and closing duet.
