About the work

Commissioned by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to mark the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, this work by Hong Kong composer Elliot Leung receives its world premiere in 2026. Leung is best known as a film and video-game composer, with credits including The Battle at Lake Changjin. The subtitle — roughly "Spark and Journey" — signals the narrative arc. As a premiere, the piece exists only in live performance; no recording precedes it.
