L'elisir d'amore

A comedy in two acts to a libretto by Felice Romani, adapted from Scribe’s text for Auber. Donizetti wrote it in Milan in about six weeks, and it became the most performed Italian opera of the first half of the nineteenth century. The second-act "Una furtiva lagrima" is its most famous page.
