Bach

English Suite No. 2 in A minor, BWV 807

About the work

The six English Suites date from roughly 1715 to 1720. The nickname was not Bach's and its origin remains unknown. Unlike the French Suites, each English Suite opens with a substantial prelude; the one in the Second Suite is laid out almost like a concerto movement. It is followed by an allemande, courante, sarabande with an ornamented double, two bourrées and a gigue.
