Site Update: One Permit Placeholder Became a Real Page, and Two More Just Appeared
The August 14 maintenance pass. The Shanghai Opera House opening gala gained fifteen works, eighteen performers, a poster and its prices; the permit sweep found two more concerts at the Symphony Hall; and an archiver bug that was dropping ticket links is fixed.

We sweep the Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau's performance permits daily and re-check each venue's own ticketing API against them. This is what the August 14 pass turned up.
One placeholder became a real page
The Shanghai Opera House 2026/27 season opening gala previously held only the four things a government permit gives us — title, date, venue, and a line saying the presenter had announced no ticketing. The presenter put it on sale today, and the page now carries fifteen works, eighteen performers, seven price bands, a poster and an explanation of how to buy. The programme follows the official 曲目单. Carmen, which the promotional copy mentions and the programme does not contain, is not listed.
A word on why that page has no buy button. The ticket page only opens inside WeChat; outside it, it is an error screen. A link that breaks when you click it is worse than a clear description of the channel.
Two new concerts, both at the Symphony Hall
The permit sweep read nine pages and found six new in-scope filings, two of which are concerts we knew nothing about. On September 12, Tan Dun, Patrick Messina and Lei Jia with the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra; on November 1, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra's programme of Golden Bell and Wenhua prize-winning works. Both are at the Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall and both are hall rentals by outside organisers, which is why neither appears in the orchestra's own programme list or in any ticketing API. For now each page carries only date, time, hall and title. Prices and programmes have not been published, and the pages say so.
The Tan Dun permit names only "Shanghai Symphony Orchestra" with no hall. We placed it in the main hall because the filing lists 90 performers and the other room at that address seats 192. That is an inference rather than something we read, it is recorded as such in our provenance notes, and the presenter's own announcement will override it.
A bug that was losing ticket links
Our WeChat article archiver read the 阅读原文 target from one attribute on the button. On some posts that attribute is empty and the real address lives in a page variable instead. Today's on-sale post was exactly that shape, and the link was being dropped. The archiver now reads both, verified by re-running it. For readers, the effect is that ticket addresses in on-sale posts will stop going missing.
