Shanghai Grand Opera House Opens Ticket Sales: ¥8M in the First Hour
On July 28 the Shanghai Grand Opera House opened its first ticket sale — Tosca, Aida, Der Rosenkavalier and the complete Shostakovich symphonies, 16 performances in all. The box office passed 8 million yuan within an hour.
The Shanghai Grand Opera House opened its first-ever public ticket sale at 10:17 am on July 28. The opening batch covers 16 performances: Teatro La Fenice's Tosca, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre's Aida, Christian Thielemann and Staatsoper Unter den Linden's Der Rosenkavalier, plus the complete Shostakovich symphony cycle with Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra.
Per the Shanghai municipal government's announcement: more than 16,000 people queued across platforms, the box office passed 8 million yuan within the first hour, and buyers came from 25 countries and regions. Over 20,000 tickets went on sale in this round, with 80-yuan community tickets to follow.
