Shanghai Grand Opera House First Sale: 16,000 Reservations, ¥8M in the First Hour

On July 28 the Shanghai Grand Opera House opened its first ticket sale. Tosca, Aida, Der Rosenkavalier and the complete Shostakovich symphonies, 16 performances. The municipal government said the box office passed 8 million yuan in the first hour.

The Shanghai Grand Opera House sold tickets to the public for the first time at 10:17 on July 28. The opening batch is 16 performances: Teatro La Fenice's Tosca, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre's Aida, Christian Thielemann and Staatsoper Unter den Linden's Der Rosenkavalier, and the complete Shostakovich symphony cycle with Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra.

The Shanghai municipal government said more than 16,000 people reserved across platforms, the box office passed 8 million yuan in the first hour, and buyers came from 25 countries and regions. This round put more than 20,000 tickets on sale. The house said 80-yuan community tickets will follow.
