On 18 October the Shanghai Grand Opera House used its WeChat account to set out how the 80-yuan community tickets for three operas in Harmony Hall are bought. Two steps are required: buy a community-ticket voucher online, then queue at the opera house on Wednesday 21 October to buy the tickets. The operas and performances:
- Teatro La Fenice: Tosca: 22 October 19:30, 24 October 14:00
- Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre: Aida: 30 and 31 October 19:00, 1 November 14:00
- Christian Thielemann and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden: Der Rosenkavalier: 8 November 14:30, 10 and 12 November 18:30
In the 上海大歌剧院 WeChat mini-program, voucher sales start at 12:00 on Monday 19 October. Each voucher costs 50 yuan, and the counter takes that 50 yuan off the ticket price. One voucher per account, 120 in all; sales continue until they are gone. Queue places are numbered by the order in which voucher orders were placed. Every number goes by text message, within 3 days, to the phone number linked to the mini-program account. If the text has not arrived by the morning of 21 October, call 400-026-1017 (9:00 to 20:00).
Tickets go on sale on 21 October at the Shanghai Grand Opera House box office, No. 1 Yongzhan Road, Pudong, entrance 6-7, opening at 9:15. The queue numbers are divided into two sessions:
- Morning, 9:30–12:00: numbers 001–060
- Afternoon, 13:00–15:00: numbers 061–120
The queue closes at 15:30. Three items must be shown at the counter: the voucher's redemption QR code, the phone number used for the order, and the queue-number text from the opera house. Screenshots of the code or the text are not accepted. When a number has already been called, the buyer goes to the back of their own session's queue; if a morning number arrives in the afternoon, it goes to the back of the afternoon queue. A voucher holder who misses the time or does not buy is refunded the 50 yuan to the original payment method within 10 working days.
Community tickets cost 80 yuan, with partially obstructed seats. Buyers must check the seat with staff before paying. Tickets cannot be returned or exchanged. Each voucher buys at most 2 tickets per opera, 6 in all. Community tickets are limited and sold until they are gone.
The posters for all three operas list nine price bands, from 1280 down to 80 yuan. On 11 September the opera house sold additional obstructed-view seats for the three at 180 to 680 yuan; that round left out the 80-yuan band.
