Zhao Xiaoou

A conductor born in Shanghai in 1978. He is associate professor of conducting at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, head of orchestral studies and resident conductor of the orchestra at its affiliated middle school, and a visiting professor at the Shanghai Symphony's orchestra academy. He entered the conservatory's middle school in 1990 and its composition and conducting department in 1996, went to the University of Memphis on a full scholarship in 2003 for a master's in orchestral conducting, then to the Aspen Music Festival on a National Conducting Institute scholarship, and has taught in Shanghai since 2005.
