Biography
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1946 by Thomas Beecham, the second London orchestra he built from scratch, and has been resident at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea since 2004. Kempe, Doráti, Previn, Ashkenazy, Temirkanov, Gatti and Dutoit have all led it; Vasily Petrenko became Music Director in 2021. The orchestra turns eighty in 2026.
