Raphaela Gromes

A German cellist, an exclusive Sony Classical artist since 2016, whose records have won the Opus Klassik, the Diapason d'Or and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Her 2023 album Femmes gathers works by twenty-four women composers; Fortissima! of 2025 is a double album with a book of the same name from Goldmann Verlag / Penguin Random House. She has made several world-premiere recordings, among them Richard Strauss's first cello sonata. She has played in a fixed duo with the pianist Julian Riem since 2012, and performs on a 1740 Carlo Bergonzi cello lent by a private collector.
