Pipa Dance Chamber Ensemble

A pipa chamber ensemble founded by Li Hui at the Central Conservatory of Music in 2007, with Li Hui as artistic director. Its players are her former students, now holding posts at the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, the China National Traditional Orchestra, the China National Song and Dance Ensemble, the Xi'an Conservatory and the Central Conservatory. The group's main work is commissioning and premiering new writing for pipa ensemble, presented in its Pipa Sound series. Its 2018 record was the first album by a pipa chamber ensemble; a second, Lord of the Clouds, is due this year.
