Paavo Järvi

Estonian conductor, born in Tallinn in 1962, son of the conductor Neeme Järvi; the family emigrated to the United States in 1980. He is music director of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, founded the Pärnu Music Festival and the Estonian Festival Orchestra in his home town in 2011, and becomes chief conductor of the London Philharmonic from the 2028/29 season. His Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms cycles with the Bremen orchestra are the best known of his recordings. Estonia awarded him the Order of the White Star in 2013.
