Biography
Born in Buenos Aires in 1941, Martha Argerich won both the Busoni Competition in Bolzano and the Geneva Competition in 1957, then the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1965. She has long avoided solo recitals, concentrating instead on concertos and chamber music, and lends her name to festivals in Lugano and Beppu.
