Julian Riem

A German pianist who studied with Michel Béroff, Michael Schäfer and Rudolf Buchbinder. He plays as a soloist, as a chamber musician and as a Lied accompanist, and writes a great many arrangements; his piano-trio version of Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream scherzo won the Petrichor international competition in 2022. He holds a Deutscher Musikwettbewerb scholarship and his records have taken the Echo Klassik, the Opus Klassik, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik and the Diapason d'Or. He has been Raphaela Gromes's duo partner since 2012; all six of their Sony Classical discs have entered the German classical chart.
